Great size for a college student
I looked through all the local electronics, computer and office supply stores before I found this case a for $65, so buying it off of Amazon was a good deal. I was looking for a case that would be big enough to carry everything I need for a day of class, my laptop, a couple of large text books and a couple of notebooks, any other random supplies, yet not a piece of carry-on luggage.

Finding a case that fit this criteria was easier said in done. Most cases are either too small, too big, too expensive (over $100) or so cheap it won't last a semester. This this is perfect size. Its big but not huge and its very good quality. It vinyl, but its very heavy duty. The padding is pretty good all around the laptop, and each pocket is padded making the laptop pretty well protected.

My only dislike is that the porfolio dividers are a little flimzy. If they were velcroed in and removable, like others I've seen, it would be the only thing that Wenger could improve on with...

Form and function
I purchased my case back in August, and it still looks great and works well. Ample room for my Dell 15" laptop, all the cords and power supply, phone chargers and mouse - and that's just in the center pocket! Still room for my clipboard, a book, my headphones, one or two binders, and more. This bag is the center of my universe when I'm traveling, which can be up to two weeks a month. Fits under the seat on all planes, but depending on the configuration, doesn't always leave a lot of legroom. It's good quality construction, and looks nice, too. I do wish the shoulder strap was removable - I don't use it - but it tucks in an outer pocket just fine.
Fantastic Laptop Bag
This is an excellent laptop bag and I am extremely pleased with it. I am a college student and use the bag to carry books as well as my laptop, power cord, pens, mouse, and a small moleskine notebook. I have a 14.1-inch widescreen Lenovo (IBM) T61 with an extended battery (12 cell) and the bag holds it nicely, even with the extra sleeve that I put in there for extra protection. The sleeve probably is not even necessary, but if you decide to include it the bag has no problems with it.

The fabric is high quality and withstands light rain and impact. There has been some wear on both the corners and the strap from where they rub together, but it does not impair the functionality at all. The strap is adjustable and has not given me any problems.

The only other issues that I can foresee is that if you put too much stuff in the front pockets the bag can tip in that direction. The rubberized feet on the bottom help correct it, but sometimes it tips over. Also, if...

Subtle but welcome upgrades
I purchased this Wenger backpack bag over 2 years ago from a local Best Buy, and immediately loved it. The big problem (for me) with previous backpacks is all of the contents rest near the bottom of the bag (gravity in action). This bag however, offers 3 compartments for storing items such as keys, USB sticks, iPods, even heavy power adaptors in pockets "sewn" to the top. This results in a very balanced bag and quick access to items frequently used.

Although this bag is durable and travels well, over time and worldwide travel, the bag started looking a bit tattered. So I purchased a new one on Amazon (through samscause.org) expecting to get the same bag. However, Wenger has made several key additions and upgrades that make this bag even harder to beat.

Now, each compartment is fully lined. The bag now has a stiffer bottom allowing it to sit more upright. They've removed the useless waist belt, freeing up space and the annoying buckle in my lower back. The side...

Even better than my previous favorite
I want to preface this review by saying that prior to purchasing the Swiss Gear Synergy, I owned a Swiss Gear Maxxum pack for about two and a half years (see my review of that pack as well). I wore the Maxxum about 6 days a week, with a consistently very full and heavy load and was extremely satisfied. But, after 2.5 years, the shoulder straps started to show their age, and I decided it was time for a replacement. I knew before I began my search that my next bag would also be a Swiss Gear, and perhaps another Maxxum.

I visited a local store that had 5 models of Swiss Gear packs in stock (but sadly, not a Maxxum) and gave them all a good looking over for features and construction as well as a check for personal fit. I was quickly able to eliminate a few of the smaller models as they simply didn't have the raw storage volume I require for my daily load. Fits 15.4 widescreens w/ ease
I read a few reviews which stated that there is no way that this bag will properly fit a 15.4" widescreen laptop. I just bought the bag and it fits my Dell Inspiron E1505 (which seems like a "full" sized 15.4" widescreen) easily.

I just wanted to set the record straight for anyone who is looking for a bag but afraid that their 15.4" widescreen won't fit. Unless you have some gigantic machine that I haven't crossed paths with, you'll be happy with this bag.

PS - I first bought a OGIO Nyquist from eBags and found it to be a POS... unconfortable, HUGE, and my laptop didn't even fit into its ridiculous side zippered pocket.

Well worth it!
Many bags and dollars later, and came across this bag. It not only has the space and design needed for transporting a lot of design, presentations and electronic equipment but mort importantly, it has survived 100,000 miles of airport abuse! I would recommend it highly.

Outstanding bag, built very well, rolls easily, lots of room
I read all the product reviews here on Amazon, and I have to admit that I was hesitant, given the complaints about the handle. But, given the Wenger reputation for quality (and personal experience with a Wenger laptop backpack - see MAXXUM from SwissGear by Wenger Computer Backpack Red), I bought one. I am very pleased with the bag and have no buyer's remorse whatsoever. The reputation for quality is well deserved.

As mentioned in other reviews, this bag has a ton of room. I am able to pack all my tech stuff in it as well as two full days worth of clothing without having to stuff it. The smaller laptop bag that fits inside the larger one is absolutely perfect for toting a 15.4" laptop with a power supply and a pad of paper. This works out great when traveling. I can leave the big stuff in the hotel and just bring the important stuff to the remote office.

Best Roller Case ! Period!
Until I found this case I thought I would have to buy a new computer roller case every 6 to 10 months. Every case I purchased before this one has had quality issues that ranged from flimsy telescoping handles to split zippers and ripped seams. This case has lasted over 2 years of local and long distance business travel and hundreds of roller miles! Banging upstairs and sliding over bumps and blacktop. The zippers are the strongest of any case I have seen. The sturdy telescoping handle is the first one I have not broken while pulling the case up over stairs and steps. I am in the process of buying a my second Wenger Case to replace the first one (The wheels are just about worn out) If I could just replace the wheels I would be good to go as the top of the case is still in very good condition. I highly recommend this case.

Great Case at a Great price for 15.4 or `17" laptops
Case is very well made, and includes a pull-out briefcase with its own handle. This case accomodates a 15.4 inch laptop, and the entire briefcase nests in the rolling case. If you remove the briefcase, that space becomes a holder for a 17" laptop. strong handles and an easy roller, with a large back pocket that opens at 90 degrees -- perfect for a short business trip's worth of clothes.
Better quality than equivalent Targus products (which I previously used for my 17" laptop, until the pull handle failed after a couple of years).

Solid all the way around. But consider size in evaluation.
Well built bag. As you'd expect from Wenger the construction, wheels, zippers are all solid. Sometimes the handle is a little tricky to extend or stow and over all it "feels" shakier than I would like but this is a common issue among these 4 stage extensions.

I like the layout. LOVE the front zip pocket and the file/flex drop down.

Note the size, particularly if you are looking at it for travel - it won't fit into many of the small overhead compartments such as the CRJs. Also, If you put much into the included laptop back (like a laptop) it really bulges into the adjoining pockets both in front and back. (I don't use the back compartment for clothes, but rather books - (which have to be offset as it is not tailored to fit dual 8x11 for instance).

Good size for traveling, sturdy
I purchased this case about a year ago. It was a touch smaller than most of the other rolling cases, and that has been important because it will fit under most (not all) airplane seats. The larger laptop cases won't do that, which was why I was still using a shoulder-carry laptop case up to that point. Now I wouldn't go back. I use it daily for both office and travel. This Wenger has proven to be sturdy - especially the handle assembly. It fits a 17" laptop easily. My wife finally got tired of her larger rolling laptop case and just appropriated my Wenger, so I'm getting another one for myself.

2+ Year update: Both of these Wengers are holding up well with daily use and frequent air travel. Fits overhead in regional jets (CRJ, Embraer) as well (but don't overstuff the bag). Definitely a quality product!

Finally found the perfect case!
I am the kind of person who is always looking for the perfect bag. I haven't found the perfect case that meets all of my needs - until now! This bag is the perfect size for a laptop, cords, mouse, files, books, and all of my personal accessories that I would normally carry in a purse. I do not like the look of the bags that, when they aren't full, look collapsed (I think it is a sloppy look). This bag holds it's shape whether it is empty or full. It is classy for a man or a woman. The zippers and the denier nylon are very high quality. The telescoping handle comes out high for tall people. The wheels roll very smoothly. The handle zips into the case very neatly. It does not have a shoulder strap or the capacity to use a shoulder strap, FYI, in case you want to carry it on your shoulder you woudn't be able to do so. Well made, roomy, fits EVERYTHING, including my oversized 17" laptop and all its gadgets. I really am very happy with this, it is business on the outside and fun on the inside with the pink lining...not TOO large and bulky to carry on my 5'2 frame. A+ from me!

Not what is advertised
Recently purchased a laptop at a local retailer who had one of these bags on display. Liked the way it looked and felt so decided to check the reviews and look for a better price on amazon. The bag is heavier which provides much of its sturdiness. Nice looking, lots of pockets, etc. The display states that it will hold a 17" computer and many reviews confirm it holding their oversized 17". What the ad and reviews don't mention is that the computer must be put in the main pocket of the bag and not in the tight, padded pocket intended for the laptop. In small print on the back of the tag it states that the computer pocket is only 16". As nice as the bag is in every other way, I didn't want to risk my laptop being less protected because it was not in the intended pocket. Disappointed and feeling I had been misled, I returned it.

2 stars for the design, sturdiness, pockets, etc. If it actually held a 17" laptop properly I would easily have given it 4 or 5 stars.
Great bag but a bit heavy.
I loved this bag. It is professional, durable, and roomy. HOWEVER, the bag by itself is heavy. Add a laptop, some papers, and accessories... and you will curse the day you bought this bag. And once this baby is stuffed full of your precious possessions, it also becomes quite uncomfortable to maneuver in a crowded bus (or other form of public transportation). If you drive around and only need to get from the car to office to car again, the heavy factor may not be an issue. But if you take public transportation and have to walk a lot, think again. Overall, this bag has been with me through thick and thin. The handles started to fray after about a year, which was to be expected. Now I'm having lots of issues finding a replacement for this "almost" perfect bag.
